Experience
Last month I wrote how I was frustrated that I could not gain employment in an ICU. However, today, I received a phone call and was offered a position in PICU. Now I know some schools do not accept PICU experience, but other ICUs want applicants to already have a year of experience. I applied to the CSICU but did not get an interview from the nurse manager. It is disappointing because I work in the cardio-thoracic surgical step-down unit so I thought I would at least get an interview. Will PICU experience hurt my chances of gaining admission to a program?
