We are graduate students of Georgetown University's Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) program, writing to invite you to participate in a research study. The title of the study is, "An Exploration of the Factors that Influence the Decision of Underrepresented RNs to Apply to Nurse Anesthesia Programs." We have specifically chosen to contact your organization regarding participation in the study, as our focus is on examining the under-representation of minorities in the CRNA profession. In order to participate in this study, you must be a baccalaureate prepared registered nurse in the United States. Enclosed is a link to an electronic survey we ask that you complete. Your participation in this research is completely voluntary and you may withdraw at any time. The survey is estimated to take 10-20 minutes to complete.
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Georgetown University has approved this survey. There are no known risks associated with participation in this study. All of the information will remain anonymous and the survey will collect no identifying information of any respondent. The deadline for completion of this survey is July 31, 2014.
To date, little information has been collected regarding this important topic. Information collected in this study will provide valuable information that will potentially benefit the profession of Anesthesia through a gained understanding of the factors affecting diversity within the profession.
