The Diversity Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Luncheon
I recently had the pleasure of attending the Diversity Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program (DNAMP), luncheon/information session held in Camden New Jersey. The luncheon was very informative, well organized and quite an engaging event. Their were a wide range of guest speakers, who spoke of their own personal experiences which were encouraging, uplifting, and very motivating to a woman such as myself, who also shares the same passion, drive, dedication and commitment. Advice and guidance was offered that provided a clear understanding to the admission and selection process, rigors of the program, and the clinical and didactic component as well. The luncheon, provided you the opportunity to network and meet exceptional individuals, which I deemed invaluable. This was truly an uplifting experience that gave you encouragement and the ability to succeed.
During my time at the luncheon, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet many amazing and intriguing individuals, which included everyone on the board of the DNAMP. One being, the founder of DNAMP Wallena (Lena) Gould. Ms. Lena spoke with me with such conviction of a true successor and what a mentor truly is. Ms Lena is very approachable and welcomes any questions or concerns one might have, and will not hesitate to offer her assistance to see your dreams become a reality.

Diversity Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program
Mon, 04/06/2009 - 7:40pm — Minerva_Alburg SNRAThe Diversity Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program (DNAMP)has been a "guiding light" for me, as an anesthesia student. DNAMP has provided me with information that I use on a daily bases as an anesthesia provider. The airway workshops are priceless. The workshops fortify the opportunity for hands on experience. The awesome luncheon sessions has given me the privilege of networking with other professionals in my field of nursing. During last year's luncheon session,I had the honor of meeting one of anesthesia's pioneers and the first African-American President of the AANA, Ms. Goldie Bragman. The DNAMP contiues to give us the guidance we need to perfect the art of anesthesia. This year's luncheon, Frank Purcell from the AANA shared his words of wisdom, and valuable experience as anesthesia "guru."
I can't thank Mrs. Wallena Gould enough for all that she has done for me and many many other. It is because of her vision that this opportunity has been afforded me.
