Changing Careers at 40

Hello Everyone,

Just as the title states......I am in the process of changing careers. Just finished Level 1 of my RN program and looking forward to one day becoming a CRNA. After reading that it is never to Early (nor to Late...age 40..hehehe)to Start in another post, I have decided to post my story here and would appreciate any suggestions or comments that will help me along.

I have an undergraduate degree in Risk Management with a concentration in Actuarial Science and Finance from Temple University, in Philadelphia. I have worked as an Equites Trader in both Philadelphia and New York and for the last 5yrs and have moved over to the the Actuarial Dept (looking for a change) where I am responsible for introducing new Annuity products to our clients. I have a decent job, but the so called cut throat Corporate environment, coupled with the current economic conditions tells me its time to move on. I considered nursing while working on my undergraduate degree, but chose not to change majors as I did not want to commit to an extra three years of undergraduate work. My youngest daughter attends a daycare at the local community college. Tuition at this daycare is discounted for students of the college. The annual discount is enough to pay for two class, so I decided to enroll in A&P. Then Chemistry. Then Microbiology then the next thing I know, I was accepted into the RN program...LOLOL

My clinical experience is what sealed the deal for me and I knew then that Nursing is what I want to do next. Not sure what more to add here, so again all suggestions and/or comments will be appreciated and if you need to know more about me or my situation, please ask.

Oh....one more thing.....I am waiting to sit for my CNA cert. My Basic Skills and Concepts class allows me to get a waiver on the skills portion, so all I will have to do next is take the written exam.

Sorry for the long story :-)
