Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing
Nursing is a highly prestigious academic unit of Hunter College. The School of Nursing operates under the mission of providing a quality education for a new generation of nursing professionals to meet the needs of urban populations. Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing is the largest public-sector nursing institution in New York and probably the best known.
As part of the Hunter College of CUNY system, the School of Nursing is engaged in service learning to help its students relate education to the real world. Its faculty are recognized leaders in their fields who bring clinical experience and up-to-date research and teaching methodologies directly into the classroom for each students education and growth. The Hunter nursing faculty is there for all of their students and places their learning and success as the number one priority.
Whether students wish to pursue a master's, baccalaureate degree, or certificates to advance them in their current position, the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing is the perfect choice. Its internationally recognized graduate nursing program can prepare students for professional advancement, a career as a nurse practitioner or many other possibilities.
All programs at Hunter College are CCNE-accredited and must be completed within 5 years. Most courses are offered in the late afternoons and evenings and offer both full- and part-time status. Traineeships are also available for students. Each student will meet with a Specialization Coordinator each semester to help them with their plan of study.

• Advance Certificate in Nursing Education - Post-Master's; 13 credits
• The Doctor of Nursing Science (DNS) program (offered by the Graduate Center)

Admissions:
Applications must be accompanied by a non-refundable application fee of US$125. Applicants must also provide:
• A personal statement of purpose indicating your objectives in undertaking graduate study
• Proof of a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited U.S. institution
• Two letters of recommendation from individuals who are able to comment on the applicants academic or professional background and on their ability to undertake graduate study
• GRE scores must be submitted along with any TOEFL, TWE, and TSE scores(if required)
• Evidence of conferral of all degrees, diplomas, or professional titles from both U.S. and non-U.S. Institutions
• Official College or University transcript(s)
Expenses and Financial Support:
In addition to tuition and fees, other academic year expenses for independent students include medical examination ($400);
health insurance ($600-1200); malpractice insurance ($20); uniforms, equipment and other miscellaneous expenses ($300); textbooks/supplies ($500); transportation ($675); housing, food and other expenses.
Buildings and Facilities:
Although Hunter has several campuses, our nursing students have classes at the Brookdale Health Sciences Campus, located in Manhattan, at 425 East 25th Street, between First Avenue and the FDR Drive. The campus is easily reached by car or by mass transportation. Brookdale also provides a limited number of students with housing.
Students from other-than-nursing health programs share the residence. There are 2 tennis courts, an indoor swimming pool, state of the art library, computer and clinical practice laboratories, a small cafeteria, vending machines, meeting rooms, and a large auditorium. Although street parking is available (at times), there are no school-owned parking facilities.
Student Support Services:
The Office of Student Services, located at the uptown campus, can help students succeed and make the most of their Hunter experience. They offer a full range of services and resources to support students from their first semester through graduation. Hunter College's offices and centers provide everything from advising to counselling to career development to programs for enrichment and even relaxation in the new Sylvia E. Fishman Student Center.
