Academic Program
American University of Antigua School of Nursing (AUASON)
American University of Antigua School of Nursing (AUASON) provides a first-class hospital integrated nursing education to qualified applicants who desire to practice in the U.S. AUA also offers an opportunity to obtain a valuable Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from our affiliated U.S. nursing school; City University of New York (CUNY) Lehman College.
HANDS-ON vs. Online
Are you more concerned with getting a fast degree or a quality degree?
We offer a multi-level degree program that provides you valuable hands-on hospital experience from the very beginning. In the nursing field, there is no substitute for hands-on hospital training.
As you know, there are many nursing online programs available; however the majority do not offer live faculty-student interaction or real life hospital-integrated training. AUA does. According to a recent New York Times article, Andrew Delbanco, a Columbia Humanities professor states, "The energy and spontaneity of discussion among people sitting together in a small room cannot be replicated by electronic exchanges.” Professor Delbanco adds, “Online courses may not be suited to subjects like laboratory science.” Our ASN to BSN joint program with Lehman (CUNY) is comprehensive, designed to make you highly valuable in the nursing field.
UNIQUE BSN AFFILLIATION PROGRAM
We offer an amazing opportunity for you to transition directly into the City University of New York (CUNY) Lehman College’s BSN program - a fully U.S. accredited nursing program.* As you know, many traditional BSN institutions of this caliber in the U.S. have a long wait list and have limited seating, so this program truly is special. If you are qualified and are serious about becoming a real nurse, you must read on.
HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
Beginning on the lovely and serene Caribbean island of Antigua, the first part (ASN portion) of the program consists of:
• Three trimesters (12 months) of Pre-Clinical Courses completed in the College of Arts and Sciences (Pre-Medical Program) of AUA
• Three trimesters (12 months) of Clinical Courses completed on the main campus and local hospitals and clinics
Students successfully completing this program will be awarded an Associate of Science in Nursing degree from American University of Antigua and will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN and work as Registered Nurses in the U.S.
*Graduates of AUA’s ASN program who have completed 90 transferable college credits, including Organic Chemistry, and have passed the NCLEX-RN are granted entrance into CUNY Lehman’s one-year RN to BSN program. All nurses successfully completing this program will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lehman College.
